Juventus thrilled to christen Sports Hub Stadium

The Italian giants are delighted at the chance to play in the first major football event at the new venue in August, with the Serie A champions set to bring their first-team stars

Serie A champions Juventus will be the first major football team to feature at the new National Stadium at Singapore Sports Hub as part of their pre-season preparations, with club representatives currently in town already singing praises of the venue.

“Everyone connected with the club is excited at the prospect of playing in Singapore and it’s extra special that it will be the first major football match at the country’s brand new National Stadium,” said Juventus commercial director Francesco Calvo at a media event held earlier on Tuesday afternoon at the Fullerton.

“It is a wonderful facility and one which the people of Singapore can be justifiably proud. Club representatives have had a guided tour of Sports Hub and everything about it is world class.”




In a video message shown at the press conference, Juventus players expressed their excitement at playing on our shores.

Captain and legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon said: “Juventus is a special team, made up of exceptional players, and we're ready to roar in the Lion City.”

Star midfielder Andrea Pirlo also expressed similar sentiments and is ready to put on a stunning display of football.

“I know that there's a great deal of passion for our football in Singapore," said the playmaker. "We hope to repay your affection by putting on a great show on the pitch."

Both players are set to feature for Italy in the World Cup alongside teammates Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Claudio Marchisio, who will fight for glory in Brazil.

Midfielders Paul Pogba of France and Ghana’s Kwadwo Asamoah will also represent their respective countries at the prestigious tournament.

Tickets for the showdown between the Italian giants and a Singapore Selection have been going fast, as fans are eager to witness history in the making.

The Bianconeri have just ended a record-breaking season where the won 33 games – including all 19 home matches – drew three games , and lost only two, setting a new league record of 102 points as they clinched their third consecutive Serie A.
